A minibus collided with a heavy truck Saturday near 6th of October City in Giza province, killing 10 people and injuring 24 others, Egypt's health ministry confirmed. Ten of the injured are in critical condition. Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said casualty figures remain preliminary as assessments continue.

The crash is the latest in a persistent string of fatal road incidents across Egypt. State statistics show road accidents injure more than 75,000 people annually and kill over 5,000, with reckless driving, poor vehicle maintenance, and uneven traffic enforcement cited as primary causes.

Earlier this month, 13 people died when a truck struck a tourist bus west of Cairo. Last month, a bus crash in the Sinai Peninsula killed 22 people, including 10 Jordanian tourists. In August, at least 18 people—many of them children—died in northern Egypt when two pick-up trucks transporting agricultural day laborers collided.
