13 Nigerian banks fail CBN recapitalisation deadline
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revealed thirteen banks have not met the March 31, 2026 recapitalisation requirement, leaving only 20 of 33 banks compliant. Governor Godwin Emefiele stated this during the MPC briefing, urging banks to complete the program. The recapitalisation, announced in March 2024, requires banks to raise minimum capital to boost the financial system's resilience.
