2026 Ballon d’Or Power Rankings Released: Mbappe Leads, Yamal Second

The final power rankings for the 2026 Ballon d’Or have been released two weeks before the award ceremony in London, UK, with Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe topping the list after finishing as top scorer in LaLiga, the Champions League and the 2026 World Cup, despite not winning any team trophies that season. Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal ranks second after securing the LaLiga title and World Cup trophy, while Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane sits in third place. The top five is completed by Barcelona’s Rodri in fourth and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in fifth.

For Nigerian football followers, the list renews the debate over what defines the world’s best player—individual goal-scoring dominance versus collective success. With the ceremony expected around October 28, 2026, fans have a clear benchmark to assess how individual brilliance stacks up against team achievements as the Ballon d’Or approaches.

Will you weigh Mbappe’s goal-scoring treble higher than Yamal’s double triumph, or do you believe team trophies should carry more weight in deciding football’s greatest individual honour?
