Politics 2027: Reject Tinubu’s reelection – Imansuagbon urges Nigerians Published on March 30, 2026 By Enahoro Iyemefokhai googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1500386953281-8'); }); A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Ken Imansuagbon has urged Nigerians to reject the reelection of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office in the 2027 general election. Imansuagbon made the call in Ewohimi, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, while receiving defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the weekend. The former Labour Party, LP, governorship aspirant in the 2024 gubernatorial election in Edo State noted that to achieve the feat, Nigerians should immediately commence the process of mobilising against the President’s second-term bid. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5'); }); He opined that the right time for Nigerians to reclaim their mandate is now, asserting that failure to stop the reelection of President Tinubu in 2027 would spell more doom to the social, economic and political development of the country. “Nigerians at both the state and federal levels must prepare to decisively reject the failed leadership of the present APC-led governments. “The electorate should also resist any attempt by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, to secure a second term. We should do everything possible to ensure that the will of the people will ultimately override political intimidation. “The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC’s claim of controlling a majority of governors does not equate to grassroots acceptance or electoral victory,” he said. Imansuagbon likened the influx of new members into the ADC to a “tsunami,” noting that it signalled increasing public confidence in the party as a viable alternative. Also speaking, former Edo State Governor and ADC National Legal Adviser, Prof. Oserhimen Osunbor, commended the resolve of both new and existing members to strengthen the party. Osunbor dismissed the notion that the APC’s dominance would guarantee success at the polls, warning that internal challenges and provisions of the Electoral Act could upset expectations. He described as unrealistic claims that millions of votes could be delivered for the President in Edo State, maintaining that political outcomes would ultimately be determined by the people. The decampees, led by a former PDP chieftain, Chief Clifford Eineh, were described as part of a growing political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections. The event attracted several notable figures, including Mrs Herberta Okonofua, Mr Akhakon Anenih, Braimoh Okonofua, Sylvester Ewanehi, and the Edo State Chairman of ADC, Kennedy Odion, among other stakeholders Don't Miss Appeal Court affirms Adamawa lawmaker Jauro’s election, dismisses PDP challenge You may like Palm Sunday killing in Plateau: You’ll regret it – Alex Barbir threatens Tinubu PDP convention: ‘You can’t compare Makinde with Asiwaju’ – Fayose defends backing Tinubu 2027: Tension in Oyo APC over alleged list of consensus candidates Many Nigerians may seek third term for Tinubu – Oluwo of Iwo Supporting Tinubu as PDP member not anti-party – Fayose 2027: Those who defected from PDP are like Peter Obi – Wike
