Politics 2027: ‘Tinubu’s mandate expiring soon’ – APC chieftain to supporters Published on March 19, 2026 By Francis Ugwu googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1500386953281-8'); }); A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Emmanuel Odigie, has urged President Bola Tinubu’s supporters to make a shift in political messaging ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the current administration’s mandate is gradually winding down and should give way to discussions on renewal. Odigie made the remarks on Thursday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he reacted to Tinubu’s recent visit to the United Kingdom. He described the trip as a positive step, expressing hope that it would strengthen bilateral relations and yield tangible economic benefits for Nigeria. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5'); }); According to him, such foreign engagements should go beyond ceremonial activities and translate into concrete outcomes, particularly in attracting investment into the country. He stressed the need for signed agreements and memoranda of understanding to be promptly implemented rather than abandoned. Odigie added that the government must clearly communicate its achievements and outline convincing reasons for re-election, emphasising that voters would expect accountability and visible progress as the current mandate nears its end. He said: “I think the President’s visit to the United Kingdom is a welcome development, and it’s our hope that they are able to facilitate good bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, not just the fun fair. “They should be able to attract investment home. You know, such visits are always a plus for Nigeria, if well managed, and not just the fun fair, not just have an agreement, come back home and dump the agreement on the shelf. We want to see MoUs signed and work, they should hit the ground running right away. “You know, for me, Nigerians singing ‘On Your Mandate We stand’, the mandate is almost coming to an end. They should begin to sing, you know, the renewal of the mandate. “Mandate renewal is what we want to hear. The mandate that was given in 2023 is almost expiring. So we want to hear more about how, what has been done, and why Nigerians should renew his mandate.” Don't Miss APC clear air on Gov Bala Mohammed’s defection You may like APC clear air on Gov Bala Mohammed’s defection 2027: I’m not sure of getting ADC presidential ticket – Peter Obi ‘UK complicit in Nigeria’s woes, Tinubu’s visit embarrassing’ – Timi Frank UK visit: ‘Naija no dey carry last’ – King Charles says while addressing Tinubu Full text: King Charles’ address at State Banquet for Tinubu 2027: Nigerian govt doesn’t want me to contest presidential election – Peter Obi (VIDEO)
