ACAMB marked 30 years of shaping narratives and building trust in Nigeria's banking industry at an anniversary gala night in Lagos on September 30, 2026. The event gathered senior officials from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, NIBSS, UBA, Optimus Bank and communication heads from banks nationwide.

ACAMB President Jide Sipe highlighted the association's role in helping banks communicate with the public, manage crises and protect reputations under pressure, noting members have served as "gatekeepers to strategic drivers" in aligning business values with customer needs over three decades.

CBN's Acting Director of Corporate Communications Hakama Sidi Ali challenged professionals to prioritise clarity over cleverness, stating "The credibility you carry into a crisis is built in quiet periods," while NIBSS MD Premier Oiwoh emphasized that "Banking is all about trust. Without trust, banking cannot stand," noting trust is even more critical as digital banking grows.

Industry leaders urged communication professionals to embrace innovation without compromising ethics, maintain public trust despite market competition, and view customers as the ultimate test of communication effectiveness as the sector moves toward broader institutional transformation.

Will you prioritize clarity in your communication, especially during quiet periods, to build the credibility needed when crises inevitably arise?
