ACF tells Tinubu: Insecurity worsening, Nigerians taking matters into own hands
Prof Tukur Mohammed-Baba, National Publicity Secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum, has told President Tinubu that insecurity is getting worse despite government claims. Speaking on Arise News, the northern leader said Nigerians are gradually normalizing self-help because the government can't protect them.
Mohammed-Baba cited specific security failures, noting that while government recently deployed 1,000 forest guards to seven states, research shows over 30,000 terrorists operate in ungoverned rural spaces in Sokoto, Katsina, and Zamfara. He highlighted how bandits now impose levies on communities and prevent farmers from accessing their fields.
The ACF spokesman criticized Tinubu's economic policies as "highly disappointing" for Nigerians' standard of living. He also raised concerns about education security, noting that even in semi-urban areas, children risk being abducted by miscreants when going to school. "Unless you do something, the government will not be there to protect you," he stated, emphasizing that citizens are fully aware of the security crisis despite government messaging.
