Adamawa NSCDC arrests 10 youths over banned 'signed out' celebrations, some not final-year students
Adamawa State NSCDC arrested 10 youths on July 24, 2026 for alleged disruptive 'signed out' celebrations involving body painting, uniform tearing, street fights and alleged phone thefts. The arrests followed intelligence reports about graduating students from Capital School, GDSS Demsawo, Doubelli and Damilu engaging in activities disrupting public peace.
The Command stated some arrested were not final-year students but SS1/SS2 pupils, contradicting initial assumptions. They cited a 2023 Adamawa State Government ban on the practice after concerns from parents and schools. Commandant CC Nasiru Nasiru Saleh ordered a full investigation and directed the Safe School Response Squad to engage school authorities on preventive measures.
Parents and students should verify actual celebration policies with school authorities, as enforcement appears to target both participants and non-students. The NSCDC warns against activities threatening public safety while working with schools to identify all involved.
