ADC Chief David Mark Calls Unity Key Challenge Before 2027 Polls
ADC chairman David Mark said at a press conference on Wednesday, September 1, 2026, that the party’s main challenge ahead of the 2027 elections is building a united political platform capable of winning Nigerians’ confidence. He acknowledged that the recent primaries produced both winners and grievances among members, stating, "Our recently concluded primaries produced winners, but they also produced disappointments and grievances. These are realities we must acknowledge and address."
Mark urged winners to see victory as a responsibility, not a licence to exclude, humiliate or marginalise others, and stressed that those who did not emerge victorious remain valuable members whose experience, net worth, commitment and structures remain important assets. He added, "An election may determine who carries the flag, but it must never determine who belongs to the party."
He explained that the real challenge is not the ADC members who contested against you, but to build a united political platform capable of winning the confidence of Nigerians in 2027. To that end, the National Working Committee has established a committee in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The call for unity comes as opposition parties strategise for 2027; voters will watch whether ADC can internalise cohesion. Will the ADC overcome internal divisions and present a credible alternative, or will its internal grievances weaken its election prospects?
