On August 4, 2026, ADC chieftain and lawyer Kalu Kalu alleged on Channels Television’s Politics Today that all academic certificates submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 presidential election are forged. Kalu said Tinubu’s INEC submission omitted primary and secondary school details, and cited documents obtained from Chicago State University showing that Tinubu claimed to have attended Government College Lagos and graduated in 1970, although the school was only established in 1974. He also alleged that Tinubu submitted a forged GCE certificate from Cambridge University. Additionally, Kalu noted that Tinubu’s 1999 affidavit claimed attendance at Saint Paul’s Primary School in Ibadan and a government college in Ibadan, yet INEC’s published records contain no information on those institutions. The allegations surface as INEC has published the credentials of all 2027 presidential candidates for public scrutiny. If proven, the claims could affect Tinubu’s eligibility under electoral law and raise questions about the verification process. The ADC chieftain urged Nigerians to scrutinize the published documents and await INEC’s verification outcome, emphasizing that academic integrity matters for public office.
