ADC chieftain predicts APC will fail 2027 integrity test
Ladan Salihu, chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), predicts the ruling APC government led by President Bola Tinubu will fail the integrity and credibility test at the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on 'Sunday Politics' programme on Channels Television, Salihu stated the government would face the 'anger and frustration of Nigerians' at the polls due to failure to meet credible election standards. 'When it comes to credible elections and elections that are based on integrity, this government will fail the integrity and credibility test at the polls,' he declared.
Salihu also renewed calls for the resignation or removal of INEC Chairman Prof Joash Amupitan, accusing him of bias and failure as an impartial umpire for Nigeria's 250 million people. 'Amupitan should resign or should be removed because in public service today, Amupitan to me is the number one persona non grata because he has failed the integrity test,' he said.
INEC has denied the bias allegations and insisted on Amupitan's neutrality. The prediction comes with 18 months remaining before the crucial 2027 elections that will determine Nigeria's political direction.
