ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said poor Nigerians cannot be left without subsidy, reiterating the party's call to subsidize production for cheaper fuel during a Monday interview on Channels Television's Politics Today. "We cannot have people so poor and leave them without subsidy. So, we (ADC) are going to subsidise production," Abdullahi stated.

The ADC official explained that as an oil-producing nation, Nigeria has the resources to subsidize crude production and deliver affordable fuel to citizens. He compared the effort to wartime measures, stating: "When your country is at war, you don’t begin to talk about the price of guns or the price of bullets or whether you defend your country by all means necessary. So, ADC and Atiku say we will defend the people by all means necessary."

Abdullahi also referenced the recent NNPC audit report, saying he is glad it shows the need for subsidy and that Nigerians will see the details in the coming days. The party plans to examine the report further to inform their subsidy strategy.

This stance comes amid ongoing debates about fuel pricing and subsidy removal in Nigeria, which have significantly impacted transportation costs and living expenses for many. With fuel prices fluctuating, the ADC's proposal offers a potential relief avenue for poor households if implemented.

Will the ADC's push for production subsidies translate to lower fuel prices at the pump, and how might this affect national budget allocations if pursued?
