ADC urges Tinubu to expand Oriire-style kidnapping rescues nationwide after Oyo success

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) urged President Bola Tinubu to replicate the intelligence-led security strategy that rescued abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, across all kidnapping cases nationwide. According to ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the Federal Government succeeded in Oriire by refusing negotiations and targeting kidnappers' families through surveillance and operations.

This follows Tinubu's remarks to Oyo traditional rulers where he confirmed rejecting kidnappers' demands. ADC argues hundreds of families in Kwara, Borno, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger and Benue states still await news of abducted relatives, questioning why similar resolve wasn't applied elsewhere. 'Every life rescued is a victory,' Abdullahi said, 'but why hasn't this strategy freed others held longer?'

The party insists the Oriire rescue should become the national benchmark for kidnapping responses, not an isolated success. ADC urges immediate deployment of identical intelligence, surveillance and operational resources to ongoing cases, stating 'no family should wonder if government urgency depends on where tragedy happens.' Families across affected states continue awaiting loved ones' return.
