ADC’s National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi issued a statement on Friday saying President Bola Tinubu should be worried about losing the 2027 general election, citing widespread hardship and insecurity across Nigeria. The party said Tinubu would be contesting against “millions of Nigerians” affected by what it described as unprecedented economic and security challenges under his administration.

ADC described Tinubu’s recent remarks—where he said he was not afraid of the opposition and reportedly mocked them—as unpresidential, accusing him of focusing on politics instead of addressing pressing national issues such as rising poverty, food inflation, rising debt burdens, and collapsing purchasing power. The statement added that, even as he spoke, reports of children being abducted from examination centres were circulating, underscoring insecurity spreading deeper into everyday life while government appears distracted.

The opposition also faulted Tinubu’s characterisation of its convention, insisting it did not hold its gathering on the street and suggesting the President may have been misinformed. ADC further accused Tinubu of attempting to court supporters of late former President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the next election, calling the move hypocritical. For Nigerians, this signals growing opposition confidence amid economic strain and safety concerns, which could shape future policies and political dynamics. Will you monitor how opposition narratives evolve, consider their impact on your livelihood and safety, and assess whether current governance meets your needs?
