Afenifere slams Tinubu govt, says it's breeding poverty, insecurity
The pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organization Afenifere has criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration, alleging it has left Nigeria worse than when it took office three years ago. In a statement titled 'Tinubu's Third Year Report: Summum Malum or Summum Bonum' signed by leader Oba Oladipo Olaitan and National Publicity Secretary Prince Justice Faloye, the group accused the administration of breeding poverty, unemployment, and insecurity. The statement references constitutional provisions stating governance's primary purpose is welfare and security, claiming the current administration has instead created 'mass killings and kidnappings' while 'tampering with democratic federalism.' Afenifere specifically highlighted ongoing security crises in Kwara, Oyo and other states, questioning whether there's an 'unholy pact between the APC and terrorists' given how insecurity has moved from Jonathan's era to Buhari's Northwest and now Tinubu's Southwest region. With the 2027 elections approaching, the group suggests the country's electoral system 'do the right thing by the next Inauguration Day.'
