The action affects two major handlers—Skyway Aviation and Nigerian Aviation Handling Company—while Hajj flights remain unaffected as charges are paid directly by the National Hajj Commission.
AGHAN Chairman Olaniyi Adigun stated the suspension followed Max Air’s refusal to engage in reconciliation talks, unlike other indebted airlines negotiating repayment. The association had issued a three-day ultimatum after previously pausing enforcement for Workers’ Day to maintain industrial harmony.
This marks one of the strongest enforcement steps against defaulting airlines in Nigeria’s aviation sector, highlighting ongoing tensions over rising unpaid service charges. Max Air has not issued any official statement or responded to PREMIUM TIMES’ request for comment as of press time.
