Airtel Africa has confirmed London as the preferred listing venue for its mobile money arm, Airtel Money, with the IPO expected in 2026. CEO Sunil Taldar said the London exchange offers access to a broad international investor base and will help unlock the long‑term value of one of Africa’s largest fintech platforms. The announcement came alongside the company’s quarterly results for the period ended June 30 2026, which showed annualised Total Payment Value (TPV) exceeding $245 billion – a 51.5% rise driven by higher customer engagement and expanded digital financial products across Airtel’s 14 African markets.

The IPO is expected to be one of the biggest listings of an African fintech business, with previous valuations suggesting Airtel Money could be worth more than $10 billion. The listing would separate the fast‑growing fintech from Airtel Africa’s core telecom operations, providing shareholders with a clearer valuation and giving investors a transparent benchmark for the mobile‑money sector’s growth potential. Earlier backers include TPG, which invested $200 million at a $2.65 billion valuation in 2021, Mastercard’s $100 million stake, and a Qatar‑sovereign‑wealth‑fund affiliate.

If the IPO proceeds as planned, it will offer one of the clearest public‑market valuations for a large‑scale African mobile‑money platform. Will you consider investing in Airtel Money’s IPO when it launches, or watch how its valuation influences other African fintech valuations?
