Akor dedicates first AFCON goal to sick mother after Nigeria's 4-0 win over Mozambique
Adams Akor dedicated his first AFCON goal to his ailing mother, who's currently hospitalized. The Sevilla striker scored Nigeria's fourth goal in the Super Eagles' dominant 4-0 victory over Mozambique in Fès on Monday night.
Akor, 25, who has featured in all four of Nigeria's games at the 2025 tournament, fought through his mother's illness to deliver a standout performance. He now has three goals in eight appearances for the national team.
"The goal is dedicated to my mum, she's supposed to be here but she's at the hospital right now," an emotional Akor said after the match. The striker's personal triumph came as Nigeria's comprehensive win boosts their title hopes in the ongoing AFCON finals in Morocco.
