Former Senegal manager Aliou Cisse has resigned as head coach of the Libyan national team, announcing his departure on Wednesday. His final two games in charge were goalless draws against Niger and Liberia last month. "This March has been very special for me, as it marked my last gathering as coach of the Libyan national team," Cisse stated. "This adventure has been incredibly enriching, both professionally and personally." Cisse spent nearly a decade as Senegal's boss from 2015 to 2024, masterminding their historic Africa Cup of Nations triumph in 2021 after losing the 2019 final. Libya, however, failed to reach the 2026 World Cup, finishing third in their qualifying group behind Cameroon and Cape Verde. Cisse's brief Libya tenure ends without securing the nation's first-ever World Cup appearance.
