ADC presidential running mate Rotimi Amaechi warned Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu’s continued rule amounts to a 'choice of death', urging them to vote for the African Democratic Congress’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, whom he said represents life. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday night, Amaechi painted a grim picture of daily survival under current policies.

He said a worker earning the new minimum wage of ₦70,000 spends about ₦65,000 just on transport to and from work, leaving almost nothing for other needs. House rents, he claimed, have jumped by 300 percent, while taxes gulp 60 to 70 percent of earnings. Amaechi also linked the high cost of drugs to preventable deaths, asking how many Nigerians have died because they cannot afford medication.

'We don't have two choices but just one to make: the choice to be alive,' he said, framing the 2027 election as a matter of survival rather than politics. He added that his wife’s shop staff are demanding salary increases because their take-home pay barely covers commuting costs.

The interview comes amid growing public frustration over inflation, fuel prices, and the naira’s depreciation, issues Amaechi said Tinubu’s administration has worsened.

Will you see the 2027 vote as a decision between life and death, or do you believe there are other ways to address the cost‑of‑living crisis?
