Amaechi challenges Oshiomhole to show certificates, lists own degrees
ADC vice-presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi dared Senator Adams Oshiomhole to produce his academic credentials after Oshiomhole called him "shallow" and "unreliable" on TVC earlier today. Amaechi, speaking on Rapid TV, listed his qualifications: degrees in Law and Literature, Master's degrees in both fields, a University of London certificate, a Master's from King's College London, and current pursuit of a Master's in Global Political Economy.
The clash stems from Oshiomhole's accusation that Amaechi contradicted himself by attacking the APC and President Tinubu after previously supporting the party. Oshiomhole also referenced Amaechi's legal dispute with Atiku Abubakar over the ADC presidential ticket before becoming Atiku's running mate. Both men served as governors simultaneously—Amaechi in Rivers, Oshiomhole in Edo.
Amaechi claimed Oshiomhole remains resentful over the 2018 move that removed him as APC national chairman, which Amaechi helped lead. He stated he does not regret that action.
Credential disputes have become standard political theater in Nigeria, often substituting for substantive policy debate. Neither camp has produced documentary evidence publicly.
When politicians attack each other's degrees instead of their governance records, what does that signal about the 2027 campaign's focus?
