The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) reported total assets of N1.29 trillion in 2025, down 29.8% from N1.84 trillion the previous year, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s 2025 financial statements. The drop stems from a change in accounting treatment: accruals from the Banking Sector Resolution Sinking Fund, previously recorded as receivables due to delays in applying them to CBN Loan Notes, were not recognised in 2025 because the obligation had already been settled before finalising AMCON’s accounts. Despite the asset base shrinkage, AMCON recovered N113.04 billion in cash and earned N39.29 billion in investment income during 2025, pushing cumulative recoveries since inception to N2.535 trillion. In the first half of 2026, recoveries rose to N165 billion, a 64% increase over the N107 billion recovered in the same period of 2025. Managing Director Gbenga Alade highlighted a cost‑to‑recovery ratio of 2.3%, underscoring the efficiency of AMCON’s debt‑recovery operations as it continues to unwind its bailout portfolio and settle obligations to the Central Bank.
