AMNI International Petroleum Development Company Limited and TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited have taken the Final Investment Decision for the Ima Gas Project, an offshore development with an estimated cost of US$1.108 billion and independently confirmed gross reserves of 1.28 trillion cubic feet of non-associated gas. At plateau, the project will deliver about 350 million standard cubic feet of gas per day for at least eight years, supplying roughly 30% of the feed gas required for Nigeria LNG’s Train 7. First gas is expected in October 2028, following engineering, procurement and construction after the FID.

The milestone underscores Nigeria’s ability to attract long‑term energy investment and highlights the growing role of indigenous operators like AMNI in partnering with international firms. AMNI’s chairman said the project demonstrates what can be achieved through sustained partnership, disciplined investment and a shared commitment to unlocking Nigeria’s gas potential, and stressed that indigenous participation must mean technical excellence, financial discipline and good governance.

For readers, the Ima Gas Project points to a more stable gas supply for domestic LNG expansion, potential job creation in the offshore sector, and a signal that Nigeria’s hydrocarbon resources can be developed profitably. Watch for updates on engineering progress, local content commitments and how the project may influence domestic gas pricing and LNG export capacity over the next few years.
