APC spokesman Felix Morka denied Tuesday that President Tinubu ever promised to eradicate poverty within three years. Speaking on Arise Television's Morning Show, Morka said campaign promises are progressive objectives—not outcomes with fixed deadlines.

"The president never told you that in the first month or 100 days of my government, or in the first two years or three years, I am going to eradicate poverty," Morka stated. He argued that even wealthy nations haven't eliminated poverty after decades of independence.

The APC wants Nigerians to judge the administration's poverty reduction efforts against the country's broader economic challenges, not against a timeline Morka says never existed. He framed the four-year presidential term as designed for a president to first understand national problems, then develop and implement solutions—with a potential second term for deeper implementation.

This reframes the conversation around Tinubu's economic record. The party's position: no specific poverty eradication deadline was ever set, so measuring performance against a three-year standard is unfair.

When politicians reframe their own promises, the real question becomes: what measurable poverty reduction targets has this administration actually set for its first term?
