The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing its claims of APC plotting as the product of “confused and desperate politicians.” In a statement, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka called the ADC a “kamikaze contraption” that is reaping the consequences of its own “reckless misadventure.”

This follows the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to suspend recognition of all ADC leadership factions. INEC confirmed it will not engage either camp until courts resolve the dispute, citing conflicting letters from factions on March 16. The action aligns with a Court of Appeal order to maintain “status quo ante bellum” pending a Federal High Court ruling.

The ADC’s internal crisis stems from a July 29, 2025 leadership change where former Senate President David Mark and former Minister Rauf Aregbesola allegedly took control “in violent violation” of the party’s constitution. Nafiu Bala’s faction disputes this, arguing he should lead per party rules. Despite attracting big names like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the APC asserts the ADC’s internal chaos proves it “cannot possibly fix Nigeria.”

The fallout raises critical questions about opposition unity 20 months before the 2027 elections. With INEC sidelining ADC and courts accelerating hearings, can this coalition of former heavyweights stabilize into a credible challenge? Or will their legal battles and public sparring simply consolidate the APC’s “Renewed Hope” narrative? Nigerian voters now watch whether a fragmented opposition can present a coherent alternative platform by next year.
