APC spokesman says Tinubu campaigned for three years, will visit only 12 states ahead of 2027 poll
Obafemi George, APC Media and Strategic Communications Committee member, told Arise News that President Bola Tinubu has been campaigning for the past three years through his policies and projects, turning Nigeria into a construction site with works in every state, and does not need to travel to all 36 states for campaigning. He challenged Nigerians to recall 2023 when the country lacked the foundation to move forward.
He said Tinubu plans to visit only 12 states, leaving governors and the campaign council to handle the rest; opposition critics argue he avoids voter anger over an economic crisis that has reduced Nigerians’ standard of living to its lowest level and question his fitness to face the electorate. DAILY POST reported that Tinubu, during the inauguration of the APC Campaign Council in Abuja on Thursday, announced he would skip some campaign trips.
George noted there is no legal provision requiring presidential candidates to visit every state or participate in debates, emphasizing that the president looked at the electoral map and decided sustaining gains from January onward is more important. With economic hardship affecting living standards, voters must decide whether project‑based campaigning suffices or demand direct candidate interaction.
