The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released its provisional primary election schedule for the 2027 general elections. The timetable approved by the party's National Working Committee aligns with INEC's schedule and the Electoral Act 2026.

Key dates start with Expression of Interest forms available from April 20 to May 8. Screening follows on May 11 (National Assembly), May 12 (State Assembly), and May 13 (governorship). Nomination forms will be sold from May 14-21, with primary elections on May 23 using the Option A4 voting system.

Form costs are substantial: N25 million for presidential EOI forms, N6 million for Senate, N4 million for House of Representatives, N10 million for governorship, and N2 million for State Assembly. Nomination forms cost double these amounts. Aspirants must submit EOI forms and pass screening before obtaining nomination forms.

With the combined presidential forms costing N75 million, is this pricing barrier making political participation accessible only to wealthy candidates, or just the reality of modern Nigerian politics?
