APGC Denies Tinubu Reduced Power Sector Debt to N2.8tn
The Association of Power Generation Companies (APGC) has rejected claims that President Tinubu reduced the Federal Government's power sector legacy debt from N6.5 trillion to N2.8 trillion. APGC CEO Dr. Joy Ogaji called the reports 'fake news' in a statement, challenging the Presidency to release audit findings supporting the figure. Ogaji emphasized the N6.5 trillion debt reflects documented electricity generation records under bilateral agreements, not arbitrary calculations. The clarification follows clashes between GenCos and the Nigeria Labour Congress over unresolved power sector debts amid persistent blackouts.
