APM tells Tinubu to resign if he lacks solutions to Nigeria's economic/security crises
The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has demanded President Bola Tinubu resign or withdraw from the 2027 presidential race if he has no solutions to worsening economic and security challenges facing Nigeria. In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf, APM condemned what it described as presidential attacks on Archbishop Emeritus John Cardinal Onaiyekan for commenting on the nation’s economic situation under Tinubu’s administration. The party argued that such criticism reflects intolerance of dissent and an unwillingness by government to address ordinary Nigerians’ concerns. APM stressed that religious leaders should be respected when speaking on national issues, adding that Tinubu’s reliance on excuses proves he lacks workable solutions. The statement urged the president to step aside and allow younger leaders with viable plans to manage national affairs. APM specifically rejected the presidency’s alleged personal attacks on Onaiyekan, stating that engaging with concerns from respected citizens and faith leaders—not resorting to condemnation—is the proper governance approach.
