Arsenal beat Lyon 2-1 in Women's UCL semi-final first leg at Emirates

Arsenal overturned a first-half deficit to defeat Lyon 2-1 in the first leg of the Women's UEFA Champions League semi-final at Emirates Stadium on April 26, 2026. Lyon’s Jule Brand opened the scoring in the 18th minute after cutting inside and beating Arsenal goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar.

After the break, Arsenal levelled in the 58th minute when Lyon’s goalkeeper Christiane Endler mishandled a free-kick from Mariona Caldentey, and defender Ingrid Engen accidentally diverted the ball into her own net. Olivia Smith put Arsenal ahead in the 83rd minute, pouncing on a loose ball after Endler and Engen collided.

Arsenal now hold a one-goal advantage ahead of the second leg in Lyon next weekend. Lyon must overturn the deficit to reach the final, while Arsenal can advance with a draw or win. In the other semi-final, Bayern Munich and Barcelona played to a 1-1 draw.
