Arsenal benefited from two VAR errors in the Premier League title race, according to the league's Key Match Incidents Panel. The panel ruled that Brighton should have been awarded a penalty during Arsenal's 1-0 win at the Amex Stadium, where Mats Wieffer was hauled down by Gabriel Martinelli. Referee Chris Kavanagh allowed play to continue, and Michael Salisbury on VAR duty cleared the incident. The panel voted 4:1 that a spot-kick should have been awarded on the field, and 3:2 that it was a missed VAR intervention. This marks the second time this season Arsenal escaped giving away a penalty, following a similar incident at Everton where William Saliba's challenge on Thierno Barry was not deemed a foul. The ruling raises questions about the fairness of the title race as Arsenal maintain their lead over Manchester City.
