Arsenal eyes Julian Alvarez as Martinelli replacement amid Al Hilal talks

Arsenal are negotiating to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez as a potential replacement for Gabriel Martinelli, who is in advanced talks to join Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. According to Sky Sports, Martinelli is seriously considering the move if clubs agree on a fee, with Arsenal seeking to include a 20% sell-on clause in any deal. The Gunners have identified Alvarez as their top forward target despite links to Juventus' Kenan Yildiz, who recently suffered a left-foot injury that could sideline him for weeks.

For Nigerian EPL fans, this transfer saga could reshape Arsenal's attacking options for the 2026/27 season. Martinelli's departure would remove a key Brazilian winger known for his pace and work rate, while Alvarez brings proven goalscoring ability from Atletico Madrid and Argentina's World Cup-winning squad. The potential 20% sell-on clause shows Arsenal's focus on long-term financial sustainability amid rising player valuations.

With the transfer window closing soon, will Nigerian supporters adjust their fantasy league strategies based on these potential moves, or wait to see how Arsenal's actual lineup shapes up before the season starts?
