Atiku, Amaechi, Kwankwaso, Aregbesola, Mark, Lead ‘Save Democracy’ Protest
The ADC is one of Nigeria’s leading opposition parties. Prominent members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are leading the “Save Nigeria Democracy” protest in Abuja. Advertisement googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display("div-gpt-ad-1672569656851-0"); }); Several chieftains of the party, including ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar, a former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, ex-governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso; a former Senate President, David Mark; and ex-Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, among others, are present as the protesters march through the streets of Abuja. The protest began at the Maitama Roundabout in the city and is expected to lead them to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Atiku and the ADC are accusing the electoral umpire of working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the country’s democracy. Some of the protesters were spotted carrying placards bearing different inscriptions, such as “Hands off our courts”, among others.
