Atiku demands transparent investigation into alleged fake PFIPC scandal
Atiku Abubakar accused the Presidency of trying to clear itself in the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal, saying the interim report of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) cannot prove innocence. He argued the report showed negligence and alleged connivance by public officers that allowed the fake agency to operate using forged presidential appointment letters, fictitious federal agency status, government offices and bank accounts opened with forged legislative documents. Atiku demanded the identities of officials allegedly involved be made public and called for full publication of the ICPC report, noting investigations into collaborators and bank accounts are ongoing. He urged the National Assembly to conduct an open investigation, broadcast live, and allow the central figure, Mr Adeyemi, to testify under oath. "If the Villa is truly clean, it should welcome live television coverage," he said, warning that lack of transparency could increase suspicion that powerful individuals are being protected. Atiku urged the government to open the investigation to public scrutiny, put witnesses under oath and let Nigerians hear the evidence themselves.
