Arsenal confirmed as 2025/2026 Premier League champions on Tuesday following Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Bournemouth. The Gunners ended a 22-year title drought under manager Mikel Arteta. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar praised the achievement through his spokesperson Phrank Shaibu, stating Arsenal's success resulted from patience, planning, and long-term vision.

Atiku compared Arsenal's journey to his own vision for Nigeria's economic development ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to the former presidential candidate, just as the club invested in young talents and maintained a clear football philosophy, Nigeria must invest in its people, strengthen institutions, and remain committed to sustainable reforms.

"The victory did not happen overnight," Atiku stated in his reaction. "My vision has always been to build an economy that works for all—driven by enterprise, strengthened by institutional reforms, and powered by the energy of our youth." He also encouraged Arsenal to complete their memorable season by defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final.
