Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said no presidential aspirant will step down in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) race. In a statement Tuesday through media adviser Paul Ibe, Atiku confirmed all aspirants will contest freely amid speculation he's under pressure to step aside for a Southern candidate.

Atiku urged Nigerians to resist APC's alleged efforts to intimidate and weaken opposition. His comments respond to rumors that he might withdraw to allow a Southern flagbearer emerge against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Instead, Atiku argued Tinubu should be the one stepping down, calling his leadership 'a growing national liability.' He criticized nearly three years of 'punishing economic policies and shrinking democratic space' under the current administration.

Is this about principled opposition or are Northern power brokers positioning for 2027? With ADC filing expected soon, will you support a Northern candidate like Atiku or push for Southern continuity?

I think Mr. President is doing better than our previous presidents; just look at the number of students he has helped through the NELFUND loan. Jagaban 2027
