Atiku, Obi yet to discuss ADC ticket compromise – Aide
Paul Ibe, Special Adviser to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Media, says Atiku and former Labour Party candidate Peter Obi have not discussed compromising the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket for 2027. Ibe clarified this on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television's 'Prime Time' programme.
He stated that both politicians are focused on building a robust alternative platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election cycle. "Having that kind of conversation is putting the car before the horse," Ibe said. "Obi and Atiku have not had that conversation as far as the ADC is concerned."
According to Ibe, their priority is ensuring the ADC platform becomes strong enough for their political aspirations. "If the platform of the ADC created is not robust enough, their aspirations and ambition will come to not," he explained. "They are trying to have a robust platform. Any other thing is a distraction brought about by the President Tinubu-led administration."
This clarification follows Atiku's earlier statement that no presidential aspirant will step down in the ADC presidential race. The comment responds to ongoing speculation about coalition building ahead of the 2027 elections.
