Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), criticised President Bola Tinubu over the rising cost of living and worsening insecurity in Nigeria. Speaking on his X handle on Wednesday, Atiku said Nigerian families are struggling to afford basic necessities, while pensioners must choose between buying food and purchasing medication. He warned that no family should face hunger and insecurity at the same time, urging citizens not to let this hardship become the future their children inherit.

He also highlighted that transport fares, rent and other essential expenses consume the earnings of hardworking young Nigerians, and that many live in fear of kidnappings and attacks across the country. The ADC chieftain called on eligible voters to collect and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the cards as instruments for citizens to express their choices and demand political change through the ballot. He stated, "Bola made life expensive. I will work to make life affordable again and restore the security every Nigerian deserves," and urged Nigerians of all ages to unite for a country where families can live with dignity, safety and hope.
