Atletico Madrid Beat Levante 2-0, Move Top of La Liga

Atletico Madrid beat Levante 2-0 at Ciutat de Valencia Stadium earlier today, moving provisionally top of La Liga with their seventh straight league win. Goals from Alejandro Grimaldo and Giuliano Simeone—Diego Simeone's son—secured the victory that puts Atletico one point clear of Barcelona, who lost to Real Madrid in El Clasico last weekend.

The win extends Atletico's strong form under Simeone, who earned his 344th La Liga victory, matching club legend Luis Aragonés' record. A minute's silence was observed before kickoff for the 69 victims of Tuesday's train crash in Toledo province. Levante's Dani Requena forced a fine save from Jan Oblak early on, and Lee Kang-in hit the crossbar in the second half before Giuliano Simeone sealed it after a pass from World Cup winner Alex Baena.

Atletico now face a critical week: they host Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday before welcoming Barcelona to the Metropolitano next weekend in a potential title decider. Real Madrid, currently third, visit Racing Santander on Sunday.

For Nigerian fans tracking La Liga for fantasy leagues or betting markets, Atletico's defensive solidity (seven wins, likely few goals conceded) and Grimaldo's attacking threat from left-back make them a strong pick. Will Simeone's side maintain this momentum against Bayern and Barcelona, or will the fixture congestion catch up?
