Adeola Akinremi, former THISDAY Features Editor and World Bank consultant, released his debut poetry collection "Scattered Ground" on Friday. The book draws literary influence from T.S. Eliot and J.P. Clark-Bekederemo, blending African specificity with universal human themes. Akinremi's work confronts climate change impacts, state power systems, migration, and personal grief through the lens of his journalism and policy experience. The title metaphor reflects Africa's dispersed wealth and personal displacement. "Scattered Ground" maps migration as human reality, not policy, and depicts conflict through victims' shattered lives. Akinremi, a Johns Hopkins graduate and recipient of Nigeria's Media Merit Award, enters a tradition of journalists who write poetry.
