Bamboo users faced login failures on Monday, September 14, 2026, after a surge of investors tried to access the app to participate in the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE public offer. The platform said traffic volumes far exceeded expectations, causing the outage, and promised a fix but gave no restoration timeline.

This matters because the Dangote IPO is one of the largest retail investment opportunities in Nigeria's recent history, with about 55 approved electronic channels aiming to attract up to 10 million subscribers. Bamboo, which processed 3.8 million equity trades (22% of NGX activity) between January and July 2026, is a key gateway for retail investors; the lockout left many unable to act during a critical subscription window.

Investors can still use other approved channels such as NGX Invest, Meritrade, PiggyVest, Cowrywise, or participating banks to subscribe to the offer. Bamboo advises users to keep trying the app and monitor its X account for updates, while considering alternatives to avoid missing the deadline.
