Metro Bandits kill three hunters in Zamfara attack Published on April 27, 2026 By Nana Ismail Troops under Operation Fansan Yamma have responded to an attack by armed bandits in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where three local hunters lost their lives. This was revealed by a security analyst in the Lake Chad Basin, Zagazola Makama, on X on Monday. According to him, security sources said the incident occurred around 4:12 pm on April 25 after soldiers at the Forward Operating Base in Wanke, working with local vigilantes, received reports of bandits operating in Gidan Gabi village. “The troops quickly moved to the scene and chased the attackers,” the sources said, adding that a river blocked their path, allowing the bandits to escape. The sources confirmed that “three hunters were killed during the attack,” while the bandits also made away with an unknown number of cattle. They added that efforts are ongoing to track down the attackers, while security has been strengthened in the area to prevent further incidents.
