Bonny Light crude approached $95 per barrel amid Middle East tensions and Strait of Hormuz uncertainty; Brent crude rose 6.5% and European gas prices increased just under 9%, with recent trading volatility between the $80s and mid-$90s per barrel. Nigeria's crude oil production averaged between 1.505 million and 1.546 million barrels per day last month, a decline of 2.3% to 4% from the previous month due to technical and operational issues, notably severe declines at ExxonMobil’s Erha and Akpo fields. Despite this drop, Nigeria maintained output near its OPEC quota floor of 1.5 million barrels per day, and with condensate adding about 170,000 barrels per day, total hydrocarbon output approximated 1.67 million barrels per day. Low-sulfur Nigerian crudes such as Bonny Light, Forcados, and Escravos remain in high demand in Asia and Europe, often outperforming other light sweet crudes from the Americas.

Macroeconomic demand factors, especially from China and ongoing global stock adjustments, are expected to restrain overall price rallies despite potential supply disruptions from geopolitical risks. For Nigerians, higher crude prices could boost government revenue and foreign reserves, but may also translate into higher fuel costs and inflationary pressure at the pump. Monitoring NNPC announcements and official fuel price adjustments will help households and businesses anticipate changes in transport and energy expenses.

Will you adjust your budget for potential fuel price changes, or consider opportunities in Nigeria’s oil sector amid steady output and strong demand for its sweet crude?
