Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed to sign 18-year-old Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from AIK Stockholm on a five-year contract running until June 2031. The Premier League club announced the deal on Saturday, with transfer completion pending regulatory approvals when the window reopens. Financial terms were undisclosed.

Yohanna, who turns 19 later this month, joins Brighton after making 18 appearances for AIK this season, scoring five goals and providing four assists. He began his career at Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria before moving to Sweden in 2025, where he quickly established himself as one of Europe's most exciting young prospects.

This signing highlights how Nigerian academies like Ikon Allah can develop Premier League-ready talent. For young footballers and coaches nationwide, it validates the grassroots-to-elite pathway that clubs invest in.

What investment should Nigerian football stakeholders prioritize in youth development seeing the potential returns from players who reach elite European leagues?
