Burkina Faso defeated Nigeria 4-1 to win the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship final on Sunday at Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast. The Young Stallions dominated early, taking a 3-0 halftime lead through quick goals that exposed defensive gaps in the defending champions' lineup.

Nigeria pulled one back in the second half when Muiz Adeleke converted a penalty to make it 3-1, briefly reviving hopes. However, Burkina Faso sealed the victory with a late fourth goal, completing a 4-1 win. This marks the second time Burkina Faso has beaten Nigeria in the tournament, having also won their group-stage encounter.

The victory sends Burkina Faso to next year's Africa U-20 Cup of Nations as the WAFU B zone's representative, joining hosts Ghana. Nigeria, as runners-up, fails to qualify through this route and must seek alternative paths to the continental tournament.

With the Flying Eagles' title defense ended, what strategic changes should Nigeria's youth setup implement to bounce back in future regional competitions?
