Cascarino urges Arsenal to sign Brighton winger Mitoma as Vinicius alternative
Former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino has advised Arsenal to consider signing Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer. He spoke on talkSPORT, saying Mitoma would be a viable alternative to Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior after the Brazilian extended his contract for six years. Cascarino praised Mitoma as Brighton’s standout player, noting his talent despite a challenging injury‑plagued last season in which he made just 19 Premier League starts, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
Mitoma joined Brighton from Kawasaki Frontale in 2021 and has since recorded 23 goals and 11 assists in 113 appearances for the Seagulls. Arsenal have also been linked with Barcola and Nico Williams as potential wingers, but Cascarino believes Mitoma’s ability to take on defenders makes him a strong option.
For Arsenal supporters, signing Mitoma could add depth and creativity on the wing without the premium price tag of top‑target talent. His availability and reported injury history may affect negotiations. Will Arsenal pursue Mitoma, or will they continue chasing other wingers like Barcola and Williams this transfer window?
