CBN reshuffles all four deputy governors effective June 1
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reassigned all four deputy governors in a major leadership restructuring that took effect June 1, 2026. Philip Ikeazor assumes the policy portfolio previously held by Dr Muhammad Abdullahi, who moves to Corporate Services Directorate. Emem Usoro transitions from Corporate Services to Operations Directorate, while Lamido Yuguda shifts from Operations to Financial System Stability Directorate.
According to the apex bank, the changes aim to strengthen coordination across strategic departments and align leadership responsibilities with evolving institutional priorities. The reassignments were reflected on CBN's official website on Monday.
This restructuring comes as Nigeria navigates complex economic challenges including inflation management and currency stability. All four deputy governors retain their positions but with expanded responsibilities in different directorates.
How might this leadership realignment affect monetary policy implementation and financial sector regulation in Nigeria's current economic climate?
