The Central Bank of Nigeria, acting for the Debt Management Office, will auction N700 billion Nigerian Treasury Bills on Wednesday, August 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. via the CBN S4 Web Interface. The offer comprises N100 billion each for 91-day and 182-day tenors, and N500 billion for the 364-day tenor. Successful bids settle on Thursday, August 13, with payment due by 11:00 a.m. that day. This auction follows the cancellation of a similar N700 billion sale on August 5, which was withdrawn after the CBN absorbed N4.69 trillion through two-day OMO liquidity mop‑ups. The resumption comes as an estimated N1.58 trillion in OMO bills mature this week, expected to inject fresh liquidity into the financial system. Money Market Dealers must submit bids in multiples of N1,000 with a minimum subscription of N50,001,000; non‑dealers and the public may also participate. The 364‑day instrument dominates, accounting for 71.4% of the total offer, reflecting the CBN’s preference for longer‑dated short‑term securities. The auction is part of the CBN and DMO’s Q3 2026 programme, which schedules several N700‑billion‑sized TB auctions. Market participants will watch whether stop rates, especially on the 364‑day bill, continue their recent downward trend or adjust to the changing liquidity environment. Will you consider bidding given the expected liquidity inflow and the current rate trajectory?
