Chelle Clarifies Osimhen Happy at Galatasaray, Denies Transfer Talk

On October 9, 2026, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle clarified that Victor Osimhen is happy at Galatasaray and denied earlier suggestions of a possible transfer, speaking after Nigeria’s 3-3 friendly draw with Russia in Nizhny Novgorod. Chelle said, as reported by Habersarikirmizi, "My previous comments regarding a possible transfer of Osimhen were misinterpreted. Victor loves Galatasaray and the club is happy with him." He added that he never said Osimhen wanted to leave or should leave, calling him one of the best strikers in the world.

This clarification matters because transfer rumors had circulated during the summer window, with Chelle previously hinting at a move to a bigger club. Osimhen’s form at Galatasaray directly impacts his availability and morale for the Super Eagles, and fans were concerned about a potential departure ahead of upcoming qualifiers. The coach’s remarks aim to stabilize speculation and affirm the player’s commitment to the Turkish side.

Fans should know that, for now, Osimhen remains a Galatasaray player with no imminent transfer. His contract situation and performance will continue to be monitored, but the current stance is that he will stay for the remainder of the season. Considering his importance to Nigeria’s attack, supporters can expect him to be available for national team duties unless unforeseen changes occur.
