Christians who backed Obi in 2023 now supporting Tinubu - APC chairman
APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda claims Christians who voted Peter Obi in 2023 presidential election are now fully backing President Bola Tinubu. The APC leader said religious sentiments that drove northern Christian communities like Plateau and Nasarawa to support Obi have "disappeared" with these groups now fully aligned with the ruling party.
According to Yilwatda, APC's Senate representation has surged from over 50 to over 90 members since 2023. He further claimed the entire South South region, which previously supported PDP and Obi, is now "completely with Tinubu" from governors to National Assembly members down to the community level.
The political shift suggests growing consolidation of Tinubu's support base across Nigeria's geopolitical zones ahead of the 2027 elections. How will this claimed realignment affect Nigeria's political landscape and the opposition's strategy for the next election cycle?
